During the 1830's and 1840's, Withers produced drawings for various books and magazines. She illustrated the entire Pomological Magazine from 1828 to 1830, and she brought exceptional accuracy and beauty to more than 100 of the plates in Maund's famous The Botanist (1836-1842). She also worked as an illustrator for Curtis's Botanical Magazine. Equally at ease drawing fruits, poultry, and game, she produced illustrations for the 1828 edition of Flowers and Fruits from Nature. Her most remarkable achievement were the plates rendered for John Bateman's Orchidaceae of Mexico and Guatemala.
