Charles Texier was a French architect, archeologist, historian and traveler. Active in the Academy of Belles-Lettres, he was in charge of several expeditions to Asia Minor and Mesopotamia in the mid nineteenth centtury and wrote extensively on the fine arts, historic buildings, geography and geology of this area.
