BIOGRAPHY OF JAMES SHIRLEY HIBBERD
James Shirley Hibberd was born in England in 1825. He wrote extensively on the subjects of botany and horticulture. He edited the ‘Floral World’ and the ‘Gardener’s Magazine.’ His illustrated books, like the “Amateur’s Kitchen Garden,” helped make gardening techniques more accessible to the suburban middle class. He died in 1890.
