Little information is available on Scottish born Miss Jeannie Foord other than that she was "a painter of plants and flowers which are much praised". Her botanical illustrations were drawn from nature and known for their rich color, structural accuracy, naturalistic form, and skillful draftmanship. They provided an important sourcebook for craftsman in the Arts & Crafts movement who converted these single dimension images into designs for fabric, stained glass, woodwowrk and cement. Miss Foord is one of the last of the great "Women of Flowers".
