John Crane Dower was an engraver, draughtsman and publisher in London. His business on Pentonville Hill flourished between 1820 and 1847. His son, John James Dower (born 1825) would eventually succeed him in the business. The pair engraved many maps along with John James' younger brother, Frederick James. (He was also a map engraver).
