John Wright was the editor of the popular London Journal of Horticulture. His beautiful fruit prints were published in The Fruit Grow?rs Guide with illustrations by Miss May Rivers, Worthington G. Smith and George Shayler. In this book, he quotes the medical journals of his time as recommending that "we ought to eat, as a people, ten times more fruit than we do, and it is ten times more delicious than nauseous medicines." The chromolithographed prints included are rich in detail and vibrant in color.
