Pieter Van der Aa was a Dutch publisher and bookseller who produced a prodigious amount of engravings on a variety of subjects during his lifetime. He interests centered on the expanding universe that was emerging in the late seventeenth century and his work focused on depciting in maps and views detailed illustrations of both the old and new world. His major .works were the Nouvel Atlas in 1704, the Naauwkeurge Versameling in 1706, and the Galerie Agreable in 1729.
