Victor Levasseur was a French geographer whose works include the Atlas National Illustre (1838), the Atlas Universel Illustre (1840), and the Planisphere (1845). While the charts are accurate and fairly detailed, Levasseur's plates are appreciated more for the elaborate borders which surround and embellish each map.
