Lizars was a Scottish painter and engraver who collaborated with William Jardin to produce some of their most famous works: "Natural History of Humming Birds" in 1833, "The Natural History of Game Birds" in 1834, and "Birds of Great Britain and Ireland" in 1842. Each of these works contained a number of hand colored steel plate etchings, engraved by Lizars from Jardin's drawings.
