FEATURED SPRING COLLECTION: FLOWER POWER
May 1, 2009 - June 30, 2009
HISTORY IN BLOOM
The history and mythology of flowering bulbs is rife with intrigue, skullduggery, thievery, instant fortunes and broken dreams. While tulips and daffodils come quickly to mind, you will be amazed at the sheer number of bulbous plants found in the garden or in the wild.
A WOMAN OF FLOWERS
Jane Loudon, credited with the development of the modern garden, colorfully documented fifty eight different species in her 1841 study "The Ladies Flower Garden of Ornamental Bulbous Plants". These beautiful hand colored lithographs were drawn by Mrs. Loudon herself from plants grown in her gardens on the outskirts of London.
