RESERVED Among the greatest of those 17th century Dutch artists who turned their attention to floral illustration was Crispijn van De Passe. Born in Cologne in 1589, Crispijn was part of a celebrated family of Dutch engravers and the pupil of his artist-engraver father. Van de Passe’s Hortus Floridus was one of the most celebrated and often imitated of the early florilegia. |
